Trail Maintenance Notes

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The might tough little dog put in a good day's work. Not too many streams except down low, and he sipped and dipped in them with the most contented look. I was a bit short of water at the end and he took offense at a nice Bernese who wanted some from his bowl. My fault. We met some nice dogs on the Webster section; none on the Willey Range. Good shade. Mostly easy paw path but some ledge and those steps up to Willey which are no problem for Pepper but I've seen dogs very reluctant to use them.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: I discovered in looking at a relatively new AMC Guide that there was a trail I hadn't done, the Sam Willey. So we tacked some peaks around it for a loop around Crawford Notch's on its ridges. I liked looking across the notch at peaks we were going to be on or had just been on. The Webster Cliff trail up from 302 is a nice trail too; one I haven't been on much. Other than a tired overnight Boy Scout troop on Field we only saw a few people on the Willey Range section until we started our descent from Willey. There were only a few people on Webster Cliff and then a fair number on Webster. Followed a young Presi Traverse hiker down from it. Met some really nice people on the trail today. Weather not as good as forecast but by the time we got up on Webster there was a nice breeze. It was a great way to spend a Saturday.
