Comments
Comments: Rock spikes from the parking lot until just after the junction of Greeley Ponds and Mt Osceola trail where we put our crampons on. We all agreed that crampons were 100% necessary to deal with all the ice even though there were many creative bypass options and trees. Chimney bypass was almost free of snow and didn't appear to be risky. Left crampons on until the summit of Mt Osceola, used spikes back to East Osceola with careful navigation, the ridge was hard packed and mostly sugar snow with the exception of some shallow post holes here and there. Glad I learned self arrest on these peaks a few months ago - put that technique to good use today (Huge thanks to Wild Bill for that!) Crampons back on from the view point after leaving E.Osceola and we experience melting ice but even better purchase then on the way up. Awesome day and a fun adventure with Elizabeth W.S. and Marta W.T.
