Lost a colorful wool hat on the way up to South peak. If found, would greatly appreciate an e-mail as it has some meaning for my friend Kristine who hiked with us today. |

First .3 miles from the lot had combo of ice and bare ground. Put on microspikes until the base of the Hancock loop trail, then switched to Hillsound trail Pros and gave gratitude to them multiple times. Up until the loop junction, trail was mostly consolidated snow and hard ice. On the way up to South peak, trail was mostly hard ice, some of the most difficult ice I've ever encountered. The ridge between summits was mostly hard packed snow. Coming down from North peak was very slow but I think a bit better conditions than on the trail to South. Still very icy with some hard packed snow at times. Lots of tree hugging today. Nice day with Meg and Kristine. Suzanne sat this one out today. |
