Mixed bag of conditions on this one. On the Lincoln Woods Trail, it was a mix of dry/wet ground and thick ice. Similar scenario for the Bondcliff Trail's lower part. The first half of the upper 4.4 mi section had a LOT of mud. Up high, it was mostly packed spring snow. Not the case going down, though- due to the warm temps, all the ice turned to a slushy, mashed potato-like mess. More mud too. Fortunately, the summit result made up for the sloppy trail conditions. Almost limitless 360 degree views! Kicked back on the top for about 45 min. and enjoyed life.
Roundtrip distance was 18.2 mi with 3,300 ft. of elevation gain, and the hike took 6 hours 15 minutes (not counting my summit break). |
