The beginning of the Livermore trail we used micro spikes. Then we bare booted, then we used mirco spikes . . . and so on. It went from ice to slush to mud and back again. We wanted to tackle the North slide and were able to accomplish that with our crampons. The trail is quickly loosing snow and ice and in a few days the conditions may not be safe. We had to hike sections of the slide through the trees. The top half of the slide, which is very sun exposed, we were able to hike bare boot. To the summit or N. Tripyramid we switched to mirco spikes and remained in them until we reached the South Slide. The S. Slide down was fun and easy to do without traction. Once back in the trees we finished our hike in microspikes. Overall a great day. |
