Did this one with the Random Group of Hikers. There was a mix of trail conditions under blue skies. Ice on Zealand Road. Wore spikes. Kept them on until Zeecliff. I switched to snowshoes because of soft snow, rest of group stayed in spikes. Ice on Guyot so switched back to spikes then back to snowshoes at camp spur trail. Spikes at treeline on way down to Bondcliff (but really could have barebooted - no snow or ice). Spikes from Bondcliff (some ice but mostly packed snow). The rock scramble below Bondcliff was bare rock. Barebooted Wilderness Trail (some icy sections but flat). Started late (7:30) and finished in 11.5 hours. |
