| Comments: |
Second hike of the day was really nice also with temps from 40 to 50 and clear sky and the wind picked up in the afternoon. Saw about 28 hikers and 7 dogs. The lower part of the trail in the hardwood area was very wet and muddy with clogged water bars. The middle section in the softwood area up to Mt. Starr King was all ice, micro spikes needed and poles helpful. The section from Mt Starr King to Mt. Waumbek was packed snow with some icy sections. Great views of the northern Presis and the ravines from the viewpoint just east of Waumbek summit. |
