Early AM start and the trail was in better shape then I imagined it would be. ice and hard packed to the cabin. From there to the summit is was a mix of hard pack and loose pack from the warm temps. Probably only going to get worse. On way out and 10 degrees warmer the rest of the trail down was starting to lose its firmness. First use of Hillsound trail crampons. Overkill for most of the trail, but great in some of the icy sections. Made the trip a fast up and out. Recommend Spikes. Shoes if there is more melt (which seems inevitable with rain and warm temps) No views as the fog was everywhere. Seemed to start clearing around 8:00 as I was a few miles down the trail |
