Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Because the snow was soft and balling up pretty quickly, I had to keep knocking snow off my Hillsound trail crampons and lost one on Jewell. Also lost part of one pole that I was using to knock the snow off.

Comments
Comments: The first 1/4 mile or so of Jewell was very, very icy. Thick blue ice, initially hidden under new snow. The rest of Jewell was pretty easy, some ice patches here and there. Traction to get through the snow was needed; in my opinion something more aggressive than Microspikes would be good. About 2 inches of new snow down below to maybe 4 inches near tree line. Some drifts on Gulfside but the snow was well packed and snowshoes were not needed. Thanks very much to Rick and Lisa for breaking trail 1/2 hour ahead of me, the loan of a crampon, and for the great company along the way.
