Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: water crossings were mostly ice but had water running beneath and we didn't want to chance it breaking so we opted for both bushwhacks which were very clearly packed out and easy to follow. These avoided the big crossings by walking over two different bridges. There were also multiple small brook crossings that were running but these were easy hopping/walking over.

Comments
Comments: The road is still gated and you need to walk extra mileage to get to the trailhead (add 1.2 miles each way). We used crampons for this hike which were much needed for the first couple miles. Tons of ice. Once we got higher there was more snow and no ice...probably a solid 5-6" but broken out. We carried our snowshoes but opted to keep our crampons on all the way up & we were fine. The bushwhacks were very easy to identify and follow. Once you arrive at the first large crossing the bushwhack is a sharp left into the woods-head up the east side of Thompson brook and you will see bridge take a right and cross 2nd bridge then left into woods bushwhack up the west side of the Spruce brook and you will meet the trail. At the top, views were fabulous. We started our hike at 7:15am and didn't see anyone the entire way up. There were a couple people at the summit who appeared to have camped and about a dozen people headed up as we descended. Great conditions!
