Hiked Mount Madison first using microspikes and although we carried snowshoes we did not need them. Be careful if you step off the trail at the higher elevations as there is deep snow at times. There was a light powder snow on the rocks along with ice on the way up Mount Madison and the day turned out to be less windy than expected. We encountered numerous groups on this trip. The hike up Mount Adams became windier but it was still manageable in microspikes. We saw a group that had hiked/climbed up King's Ravine at the summit. |
