Seven of us from Southeast Mass AMC spent 3 hours packing out the trail from the Nineteen Mile Brook trail to Wildcat A. We changed to snow shoes along the ridge and broke the trail to Wildcat B where we turned around as someone in the group was having leg issues. Shortly thereafter several people came through from Wildcat D so this entire stretch is now packed out. We wore full crampons due to the steepness of the climb to A and ice under snow which was heavily drifted in the bottom third of the trail. We returned the way we came. Full crampons recommended traveling either direction on this very steep hill to Wildcat A. MICROSPIKES NOT RECOMMENDED due to 4-12 inches of powdery snow over ice. |
