| Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossable with care. Last Cedar Brook Tr crossing and first Hancock Loop Tr crossing were the most difficult. I was back out by noon before things warmed up much but even in that time the water levels rose noticibly, some rocks that I stepped on on the way in were under water on the way out... |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One blowdown on ridge that required a detour around, otherwise just "duck-unders" |

Started in microspikes, Hancock Notch Tr was all ice and I expected this to be the theme of the day. However, Cedar Brook Tr was packed snow in good shape, as was the Hancock Loop Tr to the junction. I expected the S trail to be the most icy so chose to do the loop CCW. However, the S trail was beautiful, all packed snow with no bare ice. Put on snowshoes at the junction for the televators and the traction. The ridge was also packed snow with a nice snowshoe track for the most part, but in some places people had trashed it by barebooting in soft conditions. Please use snowshoes if the snow is soft! N trail down was not nearly as nice as the S trail, with much erosion, holes and bare ice. Knowing what I know now, my recommendation would be to do the loop CW. Climb the trashy N trail and enjoy (even glissade) the S trail. All in all a great morning. Didn't see anyone else on the trail at all. |
