| Comments: |
Hike to Pine Bend Brook Trail was smooth sailing. Hard ice at lower elevations and packed snow up higher, good gripping with micro spikes / Hillsound trail crampons. Approach to North Tripyramid was steep and icy. Slower going, could've benefitted from crampons. Trail from north to middle was hard-packed snow and ice. South peak trail had looser snow and the trail not as clearly marked. Bare booted upper portion of south slide briefly before switching back to light traction. Be very careful here. It was slow going. Butt slid through steep, slippery portions. Would not recommend for beginners, and it would've been wiser to backtrack out. Once trail moderated, it was quick exit back to parking lot. |
