Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: York Pond Road was nicely plowed and sanded up to the WMNF sign - beyond that it was plowed but a little slick. I tried to park on the road just beyond the trailhead but got stuck momentarily on the side (thanks again to the folks who helped me get unstuck). Once on the road I parked on the road a little way up on the other side of the trailhead where the edges were plowed a bit better.

Comments
Comments: There was maybe four inches or so of new snow from the other day which made things a little slow going on the way up. I tried to make an argument to wear snowshoes but I lost and used Microspikes instead, carrying the shoes all the way. Many others also gave their snowshoes a free ride although I did see a couple people wearing them above the cabin. There were a few brief spots of ice on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail so the added traction did help in those areas. In the afternoon the trail was getting packed out from foot traffic but still soft most of the way.

Lots of folks out today: I had the summit to myself for about 30 minutes and soon after leaving I must have passed 25-30 people ascending as I was descending. I also spent some time at Bunnell Rock in solitude enjoying blue skies, lots of sun and the sounds of silence. A very nice way to spend a day!
