Met a nice group in the parking lot although the one guy was wearing a Bronco's shirt. We took his suggestion to take Dicey mill. Trail broken by only one person in snowshoes up to Tom Wiggins split off. Continued on Dicey and we broke the trail on our own without snowshoes, but not too bad. Easy constant grade. At about 3,000ft saw somewhat fresh bear tracks coming out of woods and onto trail. Two of us came down with an acute case of Bearphobia and commenced making loud annoying noises to let the beast know we were there. Saw many bear clawed trees as we continued our accent which only added to the mild hysteria. Partial views near the summit were nice. Ran into the Broncos guy again. Made some mac and cheese via Jetboil. Rest of the party was jealous. Besides the noise making, an overall beautiful tranquil day in the woods. |
