Comments
Comments: From the trail head, there is a continuous packed snowshoe track all the way to the summit. Frequent post holes are evident on upper Rocky Branch, with water underneath (no surprise there, for Rocky Branch). Beginning at the "T" on the tree on the right side of Rocky Branch at the height-of-land, several people apparently without snowshoes had laid out a meandering Engine Hill bushwhack, which caught some of the glades but ended with a steep descent onto Isolation. We were in snowshoes, but they were no match for the post holes in deep snow, so we skipped the bushwhack on the way back out. We saw four hikers using spikes, and for the most part they were fine on the snowshoe pack, but I would recommend shoes.
