Comments
Comments: It felt like spring today. The snow was turning to slush and the ice was much softer in the afternoon. The first section of the Crawford Path from the Lot to the Mizpah Cutoff is very icy and a lot of bare rock. After the Cutoff the snow gets deeper and there is less ice. The ridge between Pierce and Eisenhower has some significant ice on the ledges and when in the spruce trees there is deep snow. I wore microspikes until heading over to Eisenhower and then switched to full crampons. They worked fine. I changed back to microspikes after the junction with Mt. Pierce. The lower section of the Crawford Path was tricky with microspikes on the descent.
