Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: trekking poles great help on first brook crossing (esp. coming back down mountain when water flow was much stronger than when I started up at 8:30). Second water crossing was solid ice.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One minor step over about 1/4 way up. One duck under right before Sosman trail, appears to be fairly new blowdown. Section of tree (4-5 inch diameter) across trail at about 6 foot elevation. Not a problem now, but with deeper snow will require ducking.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Met 3 dogs on trail, all full of energy and seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Bugs
Bugs: none
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I did not see anything on trail.

Comments
Comments: Met 9 people on trail. 6 were wearing microspikes (plus me), 2 had Hillsound spikes, one person wore Black Diamond crampons. Lots of ice on bottom quarter of trail, many sections of forest were snow free near start of trail, then solid packed snow all the way to summit. Very smooth and fast descent because of hard packed snow on upper three quarters of trail. Drifting snow near summit but solidly packed. Did not sink down more than half an inch. Clear day, great temperature for hiking, wonderful views at and near summit.
