Comments
Comments: Did this one solo while Monica studied for a test. Had planned to bring the group but the forecast forced me to cancel. Decided to give it a go once the temperatures warmed up (zero at the trailhead) and it turned out to be a great day - mild temperatures and very little wind. Put my snowshoes on early for the traction and the heel lifts - the trails down low had a light dusting of fresh snow. No tracks in front of me so I had the place to myself. Was only going to do South since we had to turn back from it a few years ago after getting to the summit of North Hancock. The steep ascent was snowed in and the snow got deeper and deeper as I got close to the summit. As I went up I saw numerous roots sticking out of the snow (many pointed in the "wrong" direction) so sledding down on my butt wasn't an attractive option. There were a few slips and a few sleds but was able to avoid the roots. Saw good friend Brenda V on her way up to South.
