| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of room and well plowed at the Downes Brook trailhead and on the side of the Kanc at the logging road. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
From the Kanc, the brook looked to be unfrozen and flowing strongly, so we avoided the crossing by going in on the logging road east of the trailhead. |

| Comments: |
We went clockwise on the UNH loop (pay close attention to the sign indicating a reroute for the east trail), which proved to be a good decision, as there was one scramble that I much preferred to go up rather than down.
Great views from both trails. Snow cover was light over lots of ice flow, so traction was a must. Two of us wore spikes, and the other Hillsound Crampon Pros. |
