Comments
Comments: Down low only a dusting. As the road steepend there was enough ice to use spikes. You could bare boot also with care. From Bald Knob junction spikes were needed as the amount of ice increases. I stayed in spikes but my wife went to the trail crampons on the steeper section of Mt Kinsman Trail. There were significant ice flows and domes. Kinsman Ridge Trail had more ice which was harder and put spikes to their limit. Trail crampons or full crampons worked much better though the majority were in spikes and some bare booting.
Clouds were high enough for great views. As always a great day out with Karen.
