Comments
Comments: Used beat up microspikes up to the Avalon - A-Z trails jct.. Switched to Hillsound Trail Pro Crampons for rest of Avalon Trail up to Mt. Field. Snowshoes used from Field until end of day. Either direction would've been difficult on section of Avalon Tr. between A-Z jct. and Avalon Spur in anything other than sharp traction due to ice. Snowshoes nice for section between Field and Willey as it had seen less traffic than rest of trails. Only noticeable post holing was in this section. At least 12" of snow off trail up higher. Was not as sloppy/wet as I figured it might be after yesterdays weather. Enough snow pack to allow for snowshoes with a few awkward areas to maneuver through. Perfect April conditions minus the deep rotting snow today. Strange to look down at the Mt. Washington Hotel and see bare fields surrounding it.
