A wonderfully moderate weekend in winter to nab Mt. Lincoln off my Winter 48 list. We set up camp Saturday at Liberty Springs and then tackled the ridge over to Lincoln. Some very strong and steady winds atop the ridge, but temps and views were terrific inspiration to make the journey. Ran into 5 other people on the ridge. A few drifts on top of maybe up to two feet. Trail is broken out well. We used micro spikes from the campsite up. Overnight was pleasant: down to about 15 degrees with a few strong gusts reaching us. Had the spikes on for the entire descent too. Snow shows were not necessary yet. |
