Comments
Comments: My third time up Flume, this time taking the OT, which was new to me. This is certainly the looooong approach to Flume. Easy walking up to where the trail leaves the ravine, then lots of switchbacks leading up to the ladder section. The ladders were not bad going up, but were sketchy coming down, with ice lurking under the snow in spots. Crampons would not be overkill here.

All trails well packed out. I carried snowshoes but stayed in spikes all day. Found the top of the Old Osseo Trail so I can explore the stretch between Whaleback and the current OT this year maybe. There was one set of boot prints headed down the old trail. The junction is marked if you know what to look for. Met a few folks who had come up Flume Slide, two of whom said it was "steep". Yes, yes it is. ;)

Not much sun to speak of, but still nice views from the Downlook and at the summit. A bit breezy but not too bad above treeline.
