Spikes car to car and a super well packed trail. Snow shoes took a long ride. Much easier to hike this loop counter clock wise. Took advantage of some serious butt sliding descending North Twin. Enough snow for a slow, controlled descent. Ice flows near the camps site (water falls) can be easily bypassed. By far this has been the easiest winter hiking I've seen in the last 22 years. We saw no one all day. The snow held off until we got to South Twin. Very light flurries. Bill measured the wind on South Twin at 15mph with temps at 15 degrees...Perfect conditions for a fantastic day out with Wild Bill Cronin.
Saw a huge bull moose standing along side the road on our drive back to pick up Bill's truck. |
