Comments
Comments: We did the loop counter-clockwise. The tread-way is mostly well packed frozen granular. We used microspikes all the way.Two other hikers were also using spikes going in the same direction. The only tricky part was an ice flow on the lower FWT where the trail runs along next to some cliff bands. Here there is just enough bare rock showing to ease through about 10 feet of trail without donning crampons.
The day was about as good as one could get in winter. Mostly sunny, with some wind, but not bitter cold. Excellent views in all directions.
