Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were a couple duck unders on Valley Way and a large duck under on the upper portion of Fallsway. There was a large mess on the upper part of Brookbank that will require some work. Someone had cut a tunnel through the mess but I opted to go around. I also briefly lost the trail on Brookbank and steed too high when I should have just stayed close to, you guessed it, the brookbank. I also missed the sign for Upper Bruin on Valley Way both times. Maybe it's missing?
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie handled these peaks like a champ today. I had to smile when she instinctively headed up Air Line from the Gulfside Tr before I got there. I guess after 8 visits she knows where to go. We met a few other dogs, all seemed to be doing fine. It was nice to finally meet the famous Isis and Rachel en route to Rachel's 48th winter peak.

Comments
Comments: It was a relatively tame day above treeline by January standards and I took full advantage to finally complete my winter 48. Straight up Valley Way and onto Adams then back to Madison. I had contemplated descending Watson Path and saw three hikers that had come up but opted for the easier Valley Way to descend. Near the bottom I still had some left in the tank so in true redliner spirit I decided to break out the Brookbank before returning to Appalachia. I wore snowshoes start to finish although traction/light traction was worn by many all the way up and probably would have been a better choice above treeline. I was just too lazy to switch it up.
