Comments
Comments: Hiked with Hiker Ed's group to Mt Jefferson. We broke trail along with a group from the AMC Boston Chapter. Trail is packed out but blowing snow may fill in the snowshoe track. There was some difficulty following the Jewell Trail above tree line as cairns were not always visible. There was some ice on the surfaces of the rocks above tree line. Some of the ice surfaces are covered by snow. Snowshoes with traction proved adequate for the entire route while some hikers opted for spikes on the Gulfside and Jefferson Loop.
Great day out in the Presidentials. Saw interesting clouds on the fringes of the southern snow storms. The persistent wind formed snow plumes extending out from the ridges. Good group of people to hike to Mt Jefferson. Saw a father with two kids aged 10 and 12.
