Comments
Comments: Went up on the western portion of loop. Light coating of snow on previously broken out trail. Deeper drifts higher up; I broke trail through them w/ light traction. Beautiful views from upper portions of trail and summit. Passaconaway towers above to the south, good view of Square Ledge and more. Put on snowshoes for the return, drifts deeper on north and west sides of peak due to high winds over the last few days. Near White Brook the trail disappeared. Even though I was standing by a tree with a fresh blaze, I had no idea where the trail went. Eventually crossed the creek and guided by GPS contoured toward other side of loop. Encountered the eastern loop (which I thought was behind me) after bushwacking for maybe 1/2 mi. A mystery! Might be a good idea to ascend the eastern loop (many great views from ledges) to stay on the trail.
