Comments
Comments: Started in mocrospikes. The steep sections on the OBP were a little challenging. At the hut I put on crampons but snowshoes would probably have been better for the heel lifts. There is a lot of deep drifted snow on the way up to Lafayette. Up on the ridge I kept my crampons on but there are some drifts that are 3-4 feet deep. No one we saw today had snowshoes, we met people with bare boots, microspikes and crampons. After going over the summit of Lincoln there is significantly less snow and drifting. the Falling Waters Trail is very well packed down, there is some significant icy sections when it is close to the brook. Did the loop in a clockwise direction as the wind was coming from the NW. A rather nice day.
