A good day for my annual trek to the birch glades on the FWT. I love this route in winter! Very pretty in there today. Not too much to add to hikemtns' report from Wednesday. Thanks for breaking it out! A bit of new snow fell since then. I wore spikes to the NTT trailhead, then switched to snowshoes for the rest of the day. This could have been done in spikes the whole way, but I kept the shoes on to pack down the trail more. They were more useful up high where there is more snow, maybe 8" or so. Neither Hale Brook nor Lend-A-Hand Trails were broken out. Not too cold and just a slight whisper of wind. It was very, very quiet out there. |
