Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Half way up I would say there was a significant blow down which has been reported on already, There is a path up behind the root ball, The blowdown also included several other smaller trees that someone had done some nice ax work on to open up the trail. One of those trees that were cut is still about eye level protruding into the trail and if you are between 5 to 5 1/2 feet tall and are going up around the root ball be watchful on the other side on your way up as it is at this point that the tree is protruding. Above this there is also one section whereas there is about 150 feet of light drifting snow very close to the trail edge and is a little tricky walking without spikes and is a potential fall off the trail into the woods.

Comments
Comments: Nice trail. It was easy walking. Could most likely be barebooted which my hiking partner did most of the way, I chose spikes just for better grip. Up to the top they are very useful as the trail steepens near the sunmmit. We also discovered where the Fire Wardens trail from the North Twin trail comes up to the Summit of Hale. Very cool finding that. Once done on the suummit we went to the Little River Rd to explore the winter way up Hale and found the Winter bushwack from there to the North Twin trailhead. Very productive day on Our second winter hike this year. Good day out with DaveL.
