 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Starr King Road still snow/ice free and summer lot still open. York Pond Hatchery gate was open when we arrived before 7:30 AM and when we left at 5 PM. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Mud, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Only water crossings of any significance are on York Pond Trail and are easily bypassed by bushwhacking to the right (downhill) - it's a pointless double crossing/small island. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One blowdown just before Starr King summit on Starr King Trail. Quite a few blowdowns on Kilkenny Ridge Trail. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
May want to keep the dog close by north of Waumbek - saw big bear tracks quite a few times. |

 | Comments: |
Snow started on Starr King Trail near the top of the hardwood glade. Due to previous day traffic, packed snow on trail was slippery, so light traction (Microspikes, Stablicers) was very helpful. No significant ice anywhere, so trail could have been barebooted. Snow line was below Willard Notch on York Pond Trail. |
