Comments
Comments: The mud was just beyond the parking lot. We bare booted till just after the start of the steeps to S. Twin then put on traction. Easy going till the start of the whack. The whack was mostly through open woods with about ~5" of snow but the dense stuff heading up to SW Twin almost proved our undoing. The whack took us 2' 40" to get to the summit. We spent less than 15" there refueling, taking a few pics, changing/adding layers and headed out. We did not open the summit jar as it was covered in ice. We followed our tracks back to the Twinway, then the long march out. Started at 5:30 am, back to the cars at 7:25 pm, a long day. Thanks to Dorothy C, Greg R., and Fred R., for joining me on this hike, my last to complete the requirements for the Trailwrights 72 Summits Club in winter. A great start to the new year.
