Comments
Comments: Nice to see some snow on the trails! Down low on Avalon, snow is packed pretty much to sidewalk-like hardness, a little ice on ledges, stream crossings noted above. Snow depth increases with elevation, steeps going up to Avalon spur trail from A-Z junction have a good covering of snow over the ice, so light traction (microspikes) made easy work of that section. Above Avalon Spur and all the way to Willey there is not quite enough snow for snowshoes, and I saw everything from bare boots to light traction to snowshoes on the trail today. Light traction made the descent easier.
