Parked at the gate and ran the road up to the trailhead. Bridges being slippery from a fresh coating of over its snow. Haven't been out here in a while it was a nice run up through the hemlocks with a dry trail. Soon yhe trail lowers into a very straight trail crossing a snowmobile tr. up to some switchbacks higher up. I bushwhacked to Garfield Pond trying to find where the old shelter may have been with no luck. Then up to the summit (from the west) that was in and out of the clouds. As I decended the steep cone the trail was glare ice so spikes were needed for a while past the juct. Made a quick return to the car but not without it starting to snow the last 3 miles of my morning run. Nice to see some poeple out enjoying the day. |
