Comments
Comments: We had a great hike and finally got our first tiny taste of winter. 48°F at the base, 30°F at the summit with winds around 35-40mph. Not a problem if you have the right layers. I had more issues with overheating than I did with being cold. Everything above 4000' was in a cloud, and then under 4000' you could see for miles and miles. The trail was easy to navigate, a nice steady climb with less than a foot of compressed snow after around 3600'. We put our microspikes on at around 3800' and had no trouble with the ice. Saw a handful of people without traction devices who were moving pretty slowly. Hiking poles were very helpful as well, it's not quite ice axe season yet. We started at 8:07am and finished at 1:48pm. 6.25 miles, 5 hours and 40 minutes total, 4 hrs 50 mins moving time. Bring gaiters.
