A fantastic day! I took Brook Trail up .... snow made an appearance at around 2,000' but wasn't ever a concern. Ice on the trail and ledges above the Bee Line Trail junction were more of a problem but I didn't think traction was required. Folks coming up from either Piper or Champney Falls had on spikes, so I figure the northern approaches were more sketchy. Liberty Trail for the descent had snow on the trail for a short run, but again nothing to warrant traction. Swampy leaf-covered sections were a PITA on Liberty, but the friendly-on-the-knees slope of the trail is a fair trade-off. |
