Water crossings were passable, some packed snow on rocks made them slick. |

A few minor blowdowns to duck under on the Jackson Branch of the Webster-Jackson Trail |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw prints from a day or two earlier and saw 2 dogs preparing to go up the trail when I returned to the parking lot. The steep ledge near the summit was covered in black ice and might be difficult for dogs. |

| Comments: |
Woke up at 1:30am to get to trailhead by 4am and the summit by 6am. I went tractionless until about the last quarter mile and then wore my microspikes to the summit an back down to the car. I spent an hour and a half enjoying a superb sunrise on the summit of Mount Jackson in remarkably clear skies and warm weather for December. Took plenty of photos with my Nikon DSLR and took an hour long timelapse with my iPhone. I'll have a blog post on it in the coming weeks. I saw no one on the trail until I got back to the parking lot at 9am. |
