Comments
Comments: The trail to Zealand Hut has been tracked down quite a bit. Once past the hut there is one old set of tracks that come and go. There is 3-4 inches of snow to the hut and then a good 6 inches up on the Twinway. There is enough snow for snowshoes but the ground is not frozen and there is no base. They would have been great on the flats but tricky on the rocky sections. It was tuff coming down from Mt. Bond as the snow was hiding a lot of rocks and crevices. Half way across the ridge everything is wind blown and almost bare. Once off Bondcliff the snow appears again. Someone went about 3/4 of the way to Bondcliff and then turned back. We were happy to see their foot steps to help break trail. I put microspikes on after Zealand to help with traction, especially on the down hills. Kept them on until the snow was sticking to the bottm about half way dwon the Bondcliff trail after the summit. Railroad bed is pretty bare. Baxter and I took turns breaking trail.
