No ice on Lonesome Lake trail below Lonesome Lake. The minor ice patches on upper parts of Lonesome Lake trail had dry rocks that can be used as stepping stones. Most of the Kinsman Ridge trail had no ice over the rough boulder slope to Cannon Mountain. There was some ice that can be easily avoided near the junction of Kinsman Ridge and Hi-Cannon trail. The slipperiest areas were the frosted plank bridges around Lonesome Lake. The Lonesome Lake to Kinsman Ridge approach to Cannon Mountain has the least amount of ice. I and others hiked without donning the traction devices although others opted for MicroSpikes. On Thanksgiving Day I discovered that the Kinsman Ridge trail ascending from the Tramway parking area had lots of ice.
Nice to meet The Monkeys Uncle as well as Becky the Lonesome Lake caretaker. Met many other hikers enjoying the trek to Cannon Mountain despite the clouds, breeze, and cold. |
