Lonesome Lake Trail, Kinsman Ridge Trail to summit, Hi-Cannon Trail back down to Lafayette Campground
Beautiful day, hardly any wind, temps ranged between 30-40 degrees (f). Plenty of exposed bedrock covered in sheets of ice after about 3500', we put on our microspikes for the last leg up the Kinsman Ridge Trail and again on our way back down the Hi-Cannon Trail until we reached lower elevations. Some patches of black ice. Lots of leaves on trail below 2500', can be slippery. Started our hike around 7:30am, got to Lonesome Lake hut at 9:00am. Stopped inside to warm up and look at the map. Made it to the summit around 11:30am. Didn't see very many people on our ascent, but during our descent we encountered quite a few unprepared-looking couples going up the mountain with only a couple hours of daylight left. Reached the bottom just before 3:00pm. |
