Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Pine Bend Brook trailhead has limited parking, but this time of year the crowds are minimal.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Pine Bend Brook Trail crosses various brooks that were by rock hoping. There were four or five brook crossings. I lost count.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail has significant leaf cover at this point making the areas of scrambling with uneven rocks challenging. Take extra time with your footing to avoid twisting an ankle or falling.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The trail is fine except for the last mile on the Pine Bend Brook Trail to the junction with the Scaur Ridge Trail and the final climb up to North Tripyramid. The trail in these sections includes a lot of rock scrambling on uneven surfaces. Boomer is not a fan of these situations where jumping is not as straight forward so I had to help him quite a bit. This is still probably the easiest way to hike with dogs up to these summits.

Comments
Comments: It was a cold day. Temperatures started in the mid-30s at the trailhead and were below freezing on the summits. Trails were basically free of snow, though, and trees showed no signs of rime ice forming. The clouds left the mountains by the time we made it to the summit so we actually found pretty great views from both the viewpoints on North and Middle Tripyramid. Thankfully, the trails are mostly shielded from the wind as it was forecasted to gust up to 50 mph above 4000 ft.

This was a nice hike to finish out the season until official winter hiking begins in late December.
