Most of the leaves are down so the middle portion of Stony Brook is hiding a few ankle busters, other than that, easy hiking to Carter Moriah Trail. Due to the temps (upper 20's), all bog bridges had some frost, might be a bit slick. Ledges on Carter-Moriah were nice and dry. Only ice of significance was near the junction with the Kenduskeag Trail before the left turn for the steep bit before the summit. Mainly just frozen puddles, but a bit of black ice here and there on rocks, which was easily stepped around. Beautiful sunny and cool morning, and I didn't see a single soul the entire trip. |
