| Water Crossing Notes: |
Following the 3" of rain the night before, water crossings were extremely treacherous. Person in front of me took a plunge into 40--degree water when the current knocked his footing loose. Also heard of someone breaking their wrist on the attempted crossing. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails were in great shape. From the previous night's rain, most of the trains had running water pouring down. Much drier conditions on Oct 4th |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Passed a couple of dogs on the Garfield ridge trail heading to the tent site. |
|
| Bugs: |
Temperatures dropping to the teens overnight seems to have lowered the bug activity. |

| Comments: |
Very sad to hear that a fellow hiker's attempt at the Gale River water crossing during the poor conditions turned fatal. Please tell people where and when you will be hiking. |
