Comments: Galehead Mtn, Thirteen Falls, Hawthorne Falls (area)

Mix of snow, hail, and sun. Not terrific visibility from the Galehead Mtn outlook. Beautiful woods down near 13 Falls. Water not really scary at 13 Falls. Started my bushwhack off Garfield Ridge approximately north from the Franconia Brook Trail junction. Mix of big blowdowns and really vexing eye-jabbing spruce. Very tedious. Explored the entire box-like canyon around 3000'-3200' and upstream/downstream and could not find anything that looked like the Hawthorne Falls pics I have seen on the web. The water flow was very light, however - maybe that was it? By now, I am pretty sure I've explored the entire stream (and some of the feeder streams) - that does it for me - closed case... maybe.

A terrific but cold and moderately wet & muddy day in the woods!!!! :)
