Parking/Access Road Notes

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings of Rocky Branch were doable on mostly dry rocks. Dry River even looked rock hoppable with dry feet, but it was bridged for our only crossing.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Rocky Branch in great shape, with the new sections being particularly nice, and easy to follow. Some old stepovers once in the wilderness. Isolation East and Davis in good shape. Isolation West had a multitude of stepovers and duckunders, including some trees down in the section of washouts about halfway down. Dry River was decent, though last years reroutes are much more eroded and muddy. That being said, the Rocky Branch reroutes appear to have been much better constructed.

Comments
Comments: Rocky Branch Trail, Isolation Trail (East), Davis Path, Isolation Trail (West), Dry River Trail

Finally got to check out the last section of trail to reopen following Irene, the middle 4.1 miles of Rocky Branch Trail. Some excellent work was done to reroute the trail around some major washouts, complete with switchbacks, some rock work, and wood cribbing. This is a gorgeous section of trail, closely following the Rocky Branch, and was especially nice with the foliage peaking. Isolation West and Dry River were rough, especially where it had started to rain on our way up Isolation East, and continued until near the suspension bridge. An all in all great day in the woods, with the vibrant colors of autumn.
