this route was awesome but long. 17 miles with rough trail due to many trail reroutes around washouts and blow-down. Trick slippery footing on some of the reroutes. Following the trail takes care at times but is easily navigated with some work. Only saw 2 other groups near the summit. The dry river route was empty and wild on a nice fall weekend. Good back country camping spots along the way. The dry river is beautiful and can be heard for much of the hike. Leaves were shy of peak but with much color near wet areas. the summit view of good about 300 degrees open to the north, west and east. nice view of the southern presidential. very photogenic and hungry gray jays on the summit |
