Plenty of parking at the Ammonoosuc Trailhead. |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Easy. Bridges are found at the two water crossings found at the beginning of the hike. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail in great shape for the most part. I found the upper part of the Jewell trail hard to navigate, there were times when I thought I was on the trail but was not. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one. Most of the Jewell/Gulfside is rocky, maybe not the best trip for a dog. |
|
| Bugs: |
Jew a few on the summit of Jefferson though they seemed affected by the previous night's hard frost (not aggressive in buzzing you). |

Below treeline the footing on the Jewell Trail is in really good condition. Once above treeline, pay close attention to your route until you get to the junction of the Gulfside trail. It is easy to get off trail and onto the loose rocks. This is true on both the ascent and descent. The only water is at the Greenough Spring which has a couple of very small pools. I was able to resupply with two liters of water so it is reliable. This hike is mostly above treeline and has incredible views. A fantastic day to be out in the mountains an as usual a great workout. |
